Rainbows and Ruffles

Imagine that December is here already?!?! Ridiculous. The year always feels long until December rolls around. Then we wonder, "Where'd the time go?!"

And what is the best thing about December??? My girl turns 6, or course! ;)

My little girl is getting so big! =)

PEM is such a bright, girl. She knows what she wants and likes, and she has no problem letting everyone know. Great trait to have, difficult to handle!  She's chatty, intelligent, kind, helpful, loving, caring, sweet, salty, moody & temperamental. She's mouthy and argumentative. She's obedient and thoughtful. She doesn't want anyone to hurt or suffer. She's a quick learner, yet very forgetful! She doesn't allow anyone to pick on her brother, and defends him from even her parents! (Because it's her job to pick on him ;) This wonderful girl is a beautiful, fun mix of her dad and I.  We love her to bits, and as difficult as parenting can be, I wouldn't have it any other way.

PEM's birthday is on Christmas Day. She is such lucky girl to have such a special birthday! This year she requested a "My Little Pony"-themed birthday party. It caught me off guard, because she's never watched the show! I expected she would want a Mario/Luigi, or the Octonauts, or the Kratz Brothers birthday. But alas, MLP it is!

She specifically requested that I make her a "My Little Pony" outfit! I felt so happy and proud that she would want me to make her birthday outfit. So of course I've been working hard to make sure she LOVES it.

6th Birthday Outfit

After searching online and on pinterest for "MLP" party ideas, I decided to go with a rainbow theme. Finally, I put some party-decor ideas together with some clothing ideas, and this is what I came up with:

RainbowDash-inspired Circle Skirt

It's a ruffle-heavy, circle skirt, made with the colors of the rainbow to match the party theme.  The main fabric is a sparkly, purple, satin. The ruffles are each satin as well. (I took advantage of the sale at Joann's right after Black Friday.)

The skirt is VERY twirly, of course it has to be! Phoebe won't have it any other way. ;) I also debated whether or not to add tulle under it to fluff it up, but I loved it too much to do anything else to it.

The adorable, custom-made shirt, I ordered from a local WAHM who has an embroidery business here in San Antonio. Monique, from "You Name It..." was such a pleasure to work with! She was helpful, gave suggestions, and took all of my requests into consideration. Thank you so much, Monique!!!

It's RainbowDash!

It's going to be a very colorful party! Looking forward to seeing Phoebe's reaction to all the colorfulness and fun decorations. Now off I go to finish the birthday banner! ;)

Thanks for visiting!
